1. Let us know how you fared with last week’s writing goals (whether you shared them with us here or not).

2. Share your goals for the new week.

3. Don’t forget to cheer for each other!

New to the weekly check in? Our first check in of the year includes tips on setting writing goals. But the most important thing to know is that everyone is welcome. If you’d like the moral support of discussing your writing progress with other writers, please join the comments and let us know what you’re working on and how you’re doing.

    Hi All

Don’t think I have checked in for a couple of weeks. Not really sure why, I think time has just gotten away from me! Anyway, I am still plodding on with two projects I am prepping at the moment; one screenplay and one novel for NaNoWriMo which starts in just over a month. I have signed up on the NaNoWriMo website, so I guess I have to go through with it now!

I also (a few weeks ago now) failed to get through a BAFTA selection for a children’s writing competition, which was obviously disappointing but I did pay for feedback this time. Although it was short, it was useful feedback that has given me some ideas for the next rewrite as well as encouraging me by suggesting that, although I was not selected, I do appear to be on the right path – at least they didn’t proclaim that my writing made their eyes hurt, so that was a good thing. “Failure” is always hard, but there is always a silver lining.

I also dragged myself out of bed early on Sunday morning for the Lunar Eclipse, and I am glad I did. Think I found it more impressive than the recent Solar Eclipse. Also dragged the family out of bed so they could watch it – I think they appreciated that. Next similar one isn’t until 2033, so it was worth a look. Got some photos that I am sorting out and will blog/Tweet some of them soon.

Hope everyone is having a good week and writing hard!

    Keep going!

It was overcast here so I missed the super moon blood moon howling at the moon moon ;)

More writing calls back and forth trying to break through this outline,so I can do another rewrite.

I finished reading The Martian. This book was interesting in that it’s not well written, and yet it’s captivating. The writer created a compelling and likeable character, which is why the book works. But the actual writing needs an edit and lots of help. I think the movie will be heaps and leaps better than the book.

I binge watched Scandal and am now up-to-date. What’s interesting with Shonda Rhimes who is a wonderful human being (at least I hope she is) is that her writing can be so fantastic and jaw dropping and then sometimes I find it falters as it can lead characters and situations into the ridiculous. Some of her plots are very soap opera driven. But i do like that her characters are deeply flawed human beings. I like that I can like a character one episode then hate them the next.
